PVS ASEAN SUPPORTING PARTNER WORKSHOP – APEKSI
THE STRATEGY OF ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION IN ALL URBAN AREAS WITH SOLAR ENERGY
Indonesia targets 23% for renewable energy (RE) in the national energy mix in 2025 and 30% by 2030. However, as of 2022, only 12% of renewable energy realization has been achieved. The achievement of this target has an impact on the energy transition to clean energy and the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 32% with its own ability. The government is consistently trying to implement the program for the development of rooftop solar power plants (PLTS), the use of biomass in steam power plants (PLTU), the substitution of gasoline with bioethanol, and coal management, in accordance with the mandate of Presidential Regulation No. 22 of 2017 on the National General Energy Plan.
A number of challenges emerged in the regions, the most important of which is the availability of sufficient supply, especially when facing weather (PLTS) and wind speed (PLTU). Local governments also face the challenge of different electricity unit prices, which are sold at a higher price. On the other hand, local governments cannot be alone, regions require subsidies and investment collaboration with the private sector and PLN, because electricity is an issue that has not yet been decentralized.
Therefore, APEKSI in collaboration with PVS held a Workshop to discuss the obstacles of energy and renewable energy and to find various solutions in supporting the development of a strategy for equitable access to electricity in all urban areas in Indonesia by using solar energy as the main solution .
- Discuss the challenges and opportunities of implementing solar energy for electricity access.
- Analyze the potential of solar energy in Indonesia, as well as the latest technologies and applications.
- Identify the framework and strategic steps that stakeholders can take in adapting to solar and renewable energy.
- Identify opportunities and potential in the utilization of solar energy.
- Encourage collaboration between local governments, non-profit organizations, the private sector, and the community in achieving the goal of electricity access.
- Share knowledge, experience, and best practices from successful electricity access projects with solar energy in Indonesia.

PVS ASEAN SUPPORTING PARTNER WORKSHOP – IDCTA
CARBON TRADE SEMINAR
Carbon emissions have become a very important and urgent issue. Global climate change, caused by the increase in greenhouse gas emissions, has presented serious challenges for our planet and the well-being of humanity. The impacts are very real, from extreme weather patterns to rising sea levels, which threaten the earth's ecosystems and human life.
This has led governments around the world to work together to build commitments to reduce carbon emissions. One of the most significant government commitments in the world to address climate change is the Paris Agreement in 2015. In this agreement, almost all countries in the world committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, limiting the average global temperature rise to below 2⁰Celsius above pre-industrial levels, and striving for a reduction of 1.5⁰Celsius. Countries also pledged to increase adaptation efforts and financial support for developing countries. In addition, each country is required to have an ambition towards net zero emissions, either through its own efforts or with international assistance. To support this, the concept of Carbon Pricing was created, in which governments can impose a levy on emitters to pay for the negative externalities they have caused . This concept is what underlies the occurrence of emissions reduction trading or emissions offset around the world.
In Indonesia, carbon pricing is implemented in the form of Carbon Trading and Result-Based Financing (RBP). The opening of the Carbon Exchange last month is a form of seriousness from the Indonesian Government to expand carbon trading as an effort to achieve the net zero emission mission. The Indonesian Government is also promoting a green energy transition and a greener economy that is more environmentally friendly. The promotion of these green programs then raises various questions related to the carbon trading system, carbon calculation methodology, and carbon verification system that becomes carbon transactions.
Based on the above explanation, we are holding a Carbon Seminar to be an open forum that promotes dialogue and real action in facing climate change. Through this seminar, participants are expected to be able to obtain insights, knowledge, and understanding needed to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases in Indonesia with habits that support sustainability.
